| FLEGG POOL LEAGUE
League Rules 2010/11 (as amended at AGM)
1. GENERAL
1.1 The competition is to be called the ‘LOUIS BROOKS (FLEGG) POOL LEAGUE’
1.2 Games to be played under ‘World Rules’ as previous year (2005/2006)
1.3 No rules to be changed except at an AGM or an EGM
1.4 Each team to register players on the official registration form and return to the Secretary by the given date
1.5 Any team failing to register on time will not be included in the fixture list
1.6 Each team being registered will be subject to a registration fee of £25-00 plus a returnable deposit of £20-00
1.7 Team registration fees and deposits to be paid by the registration date
1.8 Each team has the right to one vote subject to being free of financial liability to the league
1.9 Any individual wishing to register for a team after the start of the season can register on the night of play providing he has not played for a team registered with the league in the current season.
1.10 Transfers will only be permitted under exceptional circumstances and only by prior agreement of the league committee
1.11 League promotion and relegation will be based on 2 up/2 down
1.12 Any team fielding underage players should check with the landlord at their away matches that they allow young people in the bar
1.13 A copy of league rules and playing rules to be displayed at each venue
1.14 No team is permitted to register new players within the last month of the league without the express permission of the committee
1.15 THE COMMITTEE’S DECISION IS FINAL
2. LEAGUE MATCHES
2.1 Matches to be played as per fixture list in the following format: 12 x Singles Matches, 3 x Doubles Matches
2.2 First break to be determined by the toss of a coin with the away team player calling. Winner has a choice whether to break and alternate breaks will follow. In the event of a match reaching 7-7, the final break will be determined by a toss of a coin with the away player calling.
2.3 Individual players to play a maximum of 2 singles games and 1 doubles game per match
2.4 Any team unable to provide a minimum of six players will forfeit any un-played games
2.5 Matches to start at 8pm. Later starts are by prior agreement with the home team and subject to prior notification to the home team
2.6 Any team failing to request or notify the home team of a late start can be docked 1 game of singles for every ten minutes they are late at the discretion of the opposing captain
2.7 If none of the team are present by 8.45pm the match can be claimed 8-0 at the discretion of the opposing captain.
2.8 Any team failing to arrive for any match, without making any communication with the league secretary and the opposing team, will be fined £10-00 and the team who have failed to show will forfeit the match 8-0.
2.9 Any team failing to fulfil 3 fixtures will be expelled from the league
2.10 Any team wishing to postpone a match must give at least 24 hours notice to both the league secretary and the opposing team. Failure to do either will result in the offending team forfeiting the match 8-0 and being fined £5-00
2.11 Any postponed matches must be played within 1 month of postponement and is the responsibility of the team that postponed the game to contact the opposing team for a rearranged date. Failure to rearrange will result in the forfeiture of the match 8-0
2.12 The final two matches of the season cannot be postponed under any circumstances.
2.13 All matches to be completed on the night at the discretion of the landlord. Incomplete matches to be concluded within 1 month of original fixture
2.14 Winning teams will be awarded 2 points. Frame difference will decide position when points are equal. If points and frame difference are equal, one match on a neutral table will decide final positions.
2.15 Landlord/Landladies are eligible to play for any team affiliated to the pub/club but may only play for one team on any one night.
2.16 Teams found to be playing ineligible players will forfeit any games that player has participated in and the overall result will be adjusted accordingly. A fine of £10-00 will also be imposed.
2.17 Home teams to pay for the table
2.18 Home teams to be responsible for refereeing all games on the night
2.19 Spectators or team members not participating in a game are not permitted to advise participating players. The referee should note persistent disregard of this rule and the game awarded to the opposing player at the referees discretion.
2.20 Doubles partners can discuss tactics prior to the first shot of a visit only. Once the first shot of any visit has been played no further advice or discussion can take place until that visit has ended.
2.21 If a player has been awarded two visits, tactics can only be discussed with his/her partner prior to the first shot of the first visit only.
2.22 Result cards to be made available at the beginning of each match and signed by each participating player at the end of the game as verification that they agree with the stated result.
2.23 Result cards to be kept at the home venue to be available for collection by the Committee. Incomplete cards will result in a £5-00 fine to the offending team
2.24 Results to be texted to a given number on the night of matches by both captains
2.25 Refreshments are optional and left entirely to the discretion of the home team landlord. The league accepts no responsibility for the cost of refreshments.
3) KNOCKOUT MATCHES
3.1 All teams will automatically be included in the team knockout competitions. First round losers will be entered into a shield competition
3.2 Players wishing to enter the singles and doubles knockout must register on the supplied form by the stated closing date. The cost of entering the singles will be £1.00 per singles player and £2.00 per doubles team
3.3 Team knockout to consist of two matches (home & away) of twelve singles games only. In the event of a tie after the two matches, each team will nominate a player to play a single game to determine the overall winner
3.4 Singles and double matches to be ‘best of 5’ in the initial rounds and ‘best of 7’ in the semi-finals and finals.
3.5 All players reaching the semi-final stages must have been involved at least 6 league matches prior to participating in the semi-final. Any player not playing the required amount of league matches will be deemed to have been knocked out in the previous round with the losing quarter finalist being put through to the semi-final.
3.6 All relevant league match rules apply to Knockout competitions
3.7 Knockout rounds will be drawn on the nights of the monthly meetings
3.8 Landlords/Landladies can only play for ONE TEAM in any season in the knockout competitions
4) FINES
4.1 Fines will be deducted from an offending teams deposit seven days after written notification that the fine has been imposed
4.2 If a team collects fines totalling £20-00 during the course of the season they will be expected to ‘top up’ the original deposit or risk expulsion from the league at the discretion of the committee
4.3 Any team dropping out of the league will lose their deposit
5) GREIVIANCES
5.1 Any grievances to be discussed by the team captains involved in the first instance
5.2 Failure to resolve, or unwillingness by either party to discus such grievances should be brought to the attention of the committee for arbitrary discussion and final resolution
5.3 Grievances that are brought to the committee must be issued in writing by either party
